There’s something incredibly special about photographing friends—especially when it’s for a celebration as meaningful as a wedding weekend. This past weekend, I had the absolute joy of documenting a close friend’s rehearsal dinner and welcome party, and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful or fun start to the festivities.

We kicked things off at the Morehead City Country Club, nestled along the marsh in Morehead City, NC. The rehearsal dinner was everything you’d want in a pre-wedding gathering: relaxed, stylish, and full of laughter. Everyone showed up dressed to impress—think bold prints, coastal chic, and a sea of sunglasses that made the whole evening feel effortlessly cool. The ceremony rehearsal itself took place overlooking the marsh, with golden light filtering through the sea grass and a soft breeze coming off the water. It was serene, scenic, and just the right amount of sentimental.

From there, we headed to the Crystal Coast Country Club in Pine Knoll Shores for the welcome party—and wow, what a setting. The event was held outdoors on the golf course, right along the marsh, and as the sun began to set, the sky lit up in shades of gold, pink, and lavender. The atmosphere was electric, with music playing, drinks in hand, and guests mingling beneath the glowing sunset. It felt like summer in full swing, and the joy in the air was absolutely contagious.

These two events set the tone for the entire weekend—warm, vibrant, and full of heart. Photographing both was not only a creative dream (hello, that sunset light!) but also an emotional one. Getting to capture these intimate, in-between moments for a friend was a gift I won’t soon forget.

Here’s to love, laughter, and one unforgettable weekend on the Crystal Coast. The wedding day is up next, and if this night was any indication, it’s going to be one for the books.
